CAREWATCH CHILDREN AND FAMILIES SERVICE

In our work with children and families, Carewatch offer domiciliary care services to children and families to support their specific needs and enable them to live their lives in the way they want.

Our vision is to ensure that children and their families experience positive outcomes from the care we provide and that children are always at the centre of our efforts and able to influence the care and support they receive as much as possible.

Whilst we put the child first in our service planning, we also recognise the importance of the parents and families circumstances and our approach is always to maximise the benefits to both the child and their family or carers.

Ensuring positive outcomes for children and their families is our priority. To meet this objective:

  • We assess needs and develop 'child-centred' and in partnership with the child and their family
  • We communicate with children in a way they prefer and understand
  • We ensure that our support workers have the appropriate skills and competence to work with children and families and meet the specific care needs they may have
  • We endeavour to ensure continuity of care for children to make their experience as 'worry free' as possible
  • We are trained to support the safeguarding and protection needs of children

LISTENING AS A MEANS OF PROVIDING CARE & SUPPORT

Only by listening and talking to children and their families can we offer the support and services people want.

Over time, all families learn and grow from the challenges of daily life - at Carewatch we believe such challenges provide invaluable learning experience from which people can take great benefits for the future.

Children and families we support are encouraged to be as independent as possible, be allowed to take risks and to live a lifestyle which is geared to their personal choice and preference.

Since the establishment of the Childcare Strategy in 1998, childcare has been a major part of the Government's manifesto, policies and plans. Today the key driver for change in England and Wales children's services is Every Child Matters and in Scotland the Children Scotland Act 1995. Also the development of future children's services in Scotland is likely to be shaped in the forthcoming Children's Services Bill Getting it Right for Every Child, which is planned for implementation by 2008.

Carewatch therefore support the legislative requirements contained, where the outcomes-driven approach to children's services are:

  • Being healthy
  • Staying Safe
  • Enjoying and Achieving
  • Making a positive contribution
  • Achieve economic well-being

Carewatch believes that everyone has a right to control their own lives in their own homes, and should have support to help them do that.
