CARE SERVICES FOR THOSE WITH LEARNING DISABILITIES

Carewatch's priorities are fully aligned to the objectives contained within the policy documents Valuing People and Are We the Same?, that people with learning disabilities are people first.

Within Carewatch we actively engage in the key principles:

These statements are incorporated into our policies and procedures form an integral part of our Principles for Supported Living.

Nationally, the Carewatch objective is to enable people with learning disabilities to be involved in valued supported living options. We have experience of working with and supporting people with learning disabilities in a variety of housing and valued day care settings.

Our support is based on a person-centred approach to ensure services to meet individual needs really do deliver change in a persons' life. They are designed to be flexible in order to respond to changing levels of need.

TAKING INTO ACCOUNT THE PERSON

We take into account that planning should start with the person and not with the services, and the planning reflects the needs and preferences of the people we are supporting to enable them to lead a quality lifestyle. Each person then has the support to be the person he or she wants to be, including greater attention to widening circles of informal support, friendship and relationships.

We have a shared commitment to continually improve what we do. We have an ability to listen to different and diverse points of view and to present a true picture of where we are in the process of service delivery. We are about being:

BRITISH INSTITUTE OF LEARNING DISABILITIES

Carewatch Care Services have signed up to a partnership with the British Institute of Learning Disabilities (BILD) to ensure that the outcomes for people are real. This Partnership included a series of 'Train the Trainers' events across the UK to ensure our attitude and approach is consistent throughout our organisation.
