Our local community in Wiltshire

Carewatch Wiltshire play an active part in their local community

Our team can regularly be found out and about in the community, we hold coffee mornings within retirement complexes and support local unpaid carers with free training and advice.

Every year instead of buying Christmas cards for our service users we choose a local charity to donate funds to.  In previous years we have sponsored an award ceremony for Alzheimer’s Support,  bought the Alzheimer’s day centre a new cooker, extra wide wheelchairs for the Independent Living Centre and  a camcorder for the Children and Families Team.

Our clients really enjoy the local clubs/day centres. Most of these organise activities such as whist drives, singing for the brain and bingo.  There are also specialist day centres in the community for people with Dementia.

We are very lucky to have places of interest locally such as the canal at Bradford on Avon, The Hope Nature Centre in Southwick and Longleat in Warminster. We also have a nice range of garden centres which our customers like to walk around and enjoy a cup of afternoon tea.

Our customers live in a range of accommodation; extra care schemes, shared ownership housing, retirement complexes, sheltered housing and privately owned homes.

We run coffee mornings around the community and we sometimes include some meaningful activities.

We have two Care Ambassadors that go out to local schools, colleges and job centres promoting careers in care, this has proved to be very successful.  We will be looking to take this further, promoting care at home in local doctors surgeries and local hospitals.
