Carewatch opens a new site in the Rugby as it expands in to new offices
18 February 2011
A new office for Home Care providers Carewatch (South Midlands) in Albert Street, Rugby was officially opened today by Mark Pawsey MP.
The company has been supporting vulnerable people and providing solutions to independence for those in their own homes in Rugby and its surrounding district for the past 12 years. The business is run by Mike and Barbara Garrod and their daughter Clare.
In addition to their head office in Rugby, Carewatch (South Midlands) have two other offices in Northampton and Broughton Astley, Leicestershire.
Whilst Carewatch (South Midlands) is an independent local company, the business is part of a wider national franchise and corporate network with over 150 offices, providing around 200,000 of care per week around the UK.
Managing Director, Mike Garrod said:
“Historically, most of the company’s work locally has been commissioned by Warwickshire County Council and the local PCT on the basis of the customers’ assessed needs. The way people choose and receive home care services, like those provided by Carewatch, are changing. Customers are rightly being given more choice and control over who supports them and the way that support is focussed, an approach underpinned by central government strategy. This has offered the home case sector an opportunity to re think their business models to accommodate and meet those changes and bring innovative customer based and person centred, solutions to the market.
We felt that we had to develop a higher profile and greater accessibility in our locality so that potential customers and their relatives or carers could drop in and talk to us about their support needs and how we can help them, in a calm and professional environment.”
MP, Mark Pawsey commented:
“It’s encouraging to see local businesses expanding to larger offices and making an investment in new technologies.”
He added:
“Care for the elderly and vulnerable is an essential part of our Community and I’m looking forward to meeting the Staff at Carewatch to gain an insight into their operation.”
He concluded:
“I was happy to accept the invitation to open their new premises, which are almost on the doorstep of my Constituency Office!”
