Scottish Carewatch branches honoured by Care Commission

15 February 2011

The Inverclyde & North Ayrshire and West Central Scotland branches of leading home-based support provider Carewatch Care Services Ltd have been awarded a grade five rating by the Care Commission for high standards of excellence in the quality of their care services.

Both the company-owned Carewatch West Central Scotland branch and franchise-operated Carewatch Inverclyde & North Ayrshire were given five out of a possible six points by the Scottish care regulator for delivering quality care and adopting a person-centred approach in supporting the needs of their service users.

Management and staff were praised for listening to and, where possible, acting upon requests made by service users and for requesting feedback from customers about the support they received to ensure they are given care appropriate for their needs. The regulator offered no recommendations or requirements to improve the businesses.

The Care Commission was set up in 2002 to regulate and improve care services in Scotland. Regulating around 15,000 services each year, the commission is responsible for ensuring that Scotland’s care services are operating at a high standard, and reserve a grade five judgement for services deemed to deliver a very high standard in care and support.

Colin Evans, Manager of Carewatch West Central Scotland, comments: “I joined the company eighteen months ago and we have really worked hard to deliver the quality care and support services that won us this grade. Since the previous inspection we have improved our rating from a three to a five, which is a credit to our team and their dedication to our service users. I am immensely proud.”

Anna Houston, Managing Director of Carewatch Inverclyde & North Ayrshire, comments: “As a company, person-centred and quality-led services are fundamental to our success. We do this by ensuring our staff are fully trained, qualified and supported and making sure our service users’ wishes are central to everything we do.”
