DIRECT PAYMENTS
Since 2002 the government has given freedom to people eligible for funding for their care, the choice to choose who provides it.
Following a social services assessment, an individual can use the Direct Payment funding to receive a range of services, including:
- Personal care
- Day services (including domestic assistance i.e. laundry, housekeeping etc)
- Night services (sleep-ins)
- Assistance on being discharged from hospital
There are 2 main ways in which Carewatch can help someone with a Direct Payment.
- Employing dedicated care worker/s through Carewatch
- Employing a personal assistant through Carewatch. We will provide continual training for them, as well as taking care of other employer obligations. The personal assistant you employ can still be a friend or relative (who doesn't live with you) - you still retain the choice.
Carewatch offices around the UK currently supply dedicated care workers, personal assistants and services to people receiving a Direct Payment, including:
- Older people
- People with a physical and/or learning disability who are over 16
- Unpaid carers
- Parents with a disability for the non educational needs of their children
If you or someone you know maybe interested in how Carewatch can enable you retain your independence and choice, contact your nearest Carewatch office.
