CARE PACKAGES FOR HOUSING ASSOCIATIONS
Following social and political changes in the last few years, there are now over 2,000 housing associations in the UK, providing housing which caters to the needs of local communities.
Working closely with local authorities, many of the housing associations work with provide social dwellings for people with particular needs – from people with mental health issues and history of substance abuse, for people with a learning disability to housing for the elderly.
Carewatch is able to work in partnership with housing associations providing a range of services that are appropriate to the needs of people living in those homes.
FLOATING SUPPORT
We are able to provide Floating Support to vulnerable people who require short term assistance, adjusting to and making their homes their own. Working to the Government’s Supporting People initiative for funding, planning and maintaining Housing related Support, we enable people to maintain a stable home situation, in the kind of place they want to be in – be it a house, flat or unit.
We can enable them to achieve the 5 outcomes set by the national outcomes framework:
- Achieving economic well being
- Enjoy and Achieve
- Being Healthy
- Staying Safe
- Making a Contribution.
PRACTICAL SUPPORT
By supporting people in a practical way, we assist them to:
- Deal with budgets
- Work out and stick to a financial recovery plan, if bill payments have fallen into arrears
- Helping choose suitable accommodation and making that accommodation a home
- Support with accessing local community services
- Keeping to terms of a tenancy/other agreement
- Assistance with housing adaptations
The housing related support means that when the person has developed their skills, confidence and achievements, the Housing Related Support ‘floats’ to another individual in need.

EXTRA CARE HOUSING
Carewatch also works within Extra Care Housing schemes, providing specialist ‘on site’ care to people living independently in their own dwellings within a residential complex, reducing the need for institutional or residential care or hospital admission.
Extra care housing is aimed mainly at Elderly Frail people living in their own dwellings and maintaining their own independence for as long as possible.
One of the main benefits for people living in extra care is that it is intended as ‘a home for life’, allowing couples and individuals to stay together in their own homes, but with the provision of a specialist domiciliary care service included.
This type of care maximises levels of independence to within a safe environment, enabling service to live to their full potential for as long as possible.
