Following a recent inspection by the care Quality Commission, we have received a ‘good’ rating.
At Carewatch Sheffield, we support over 410 people in our community, all wishing to choose to stay at home, retaining independent living.
I am definitely happy with the care and support I receive. They are not just my carers, they are my friends. I look forward to them coming to see me. They are a good bunch that come to see me.
I find that like most people, those with Dementia really enjoy listening to music, so I thought it would be a great idea to get people together for a fun afternoon.
The Care Quality Commission (CQC) regularly inspects care services, this is to ensure that the service they provide is:
The CQC visit the office where the home care service is based and do a number of things to report their finding – this includes checking our recruitment processes, paper work, care planning, and it includes interviewing the Care Manager, office staff, Home care Workers, service users, and service user family members.
The overall summary of our inspection report is that the feedback from people was good, and our service users expressed satisfaction with the service they are receiving, speaking highly of our staff.
They reported that we ensure people’s safety, we have sufficient staff to carry out a safe service and that our team is aware of their responsibility to protect people’s health and well-being.
Staff were found to be respectful of people’s privacy and dignity and care and support is provided in a person centred way. Information about how people preferred their care to be delivered was kept under review and up to date.

The CQC spoke with 9 people who use our home care service in Sheffield, and visited 5 of them in their homes.
Service users said:
“They are very good. I am very pleased with them. They look after me and make sure I am OK before they leave. They make sure that I’ve taken my medicines and that I feel comfortable with them”
“The carers’ time keeping is very good and they always turn up”
“The staff always put on gloves when they get me up and then change them to prepare my food”
“With the carers I’m used to and know over the years, I get to know what knowledge they have”
“The registered manager is the font of all knowledge. If we want to know anything we ask her. If she didn’t know she’d find out for us.”
“They always ask ‘How you are today?’ They are good at asking things.”
“It’s just like having a friend coming to get my dinner. They put gloves on and they know better than me how to use the oven and microwave. They always leave me a drink where I can get it as they know I love my drinks.”
“If they [care worker] think I am not well they will send for a doctor. They are very good like that. If I need an ambulance they will stay with me until the ambulance arrives.”
