Blogging is an activity that many people don't consider taking up as a hobby, but here are several reasons why you should start blogging
There are many reasons why you might want to start a blog, here are just a few:
Blogging can help other people
Often people blog about what they know, which could be a career they spent years mastering, subjects they have studied, or something they are interested and passionate about.
Blogging about things you know for example dementia, could provide advice and information to a lot of people, it could also give comfort knowing that other people understand what they are going through and they are not alone.
Whatever your knowledge, somebody out there is going to be interested in reading about it, so never think that you have nothing worthwhile to voice over a blog.
Give yourself a voice
When you start a blog, it gives you a voice that could potentially reach hundreds, thousands and possibly millions of people.
Many people start a blog to voice their opinions and concerns over specific topics, such as; putting an end to animals in captivity, informing people about a charity and the work they do or raising awareness about how people can live well with dementia. The possibilities are endless, so write about what you know and what you have a passion for.
Write blogs as a hobby
Many people find themselves with a lot of spare time after retirement, so blogging as a hobby is a good way to keep yourself occupied. It gives you the ability to write about subjects you are passionate about, whilst providing a wealth of information to people who are interested in your selected topic.
You’ll learn new things
If you decide to be a little more adventurous with your blogging, you could vary your blogging topics by researching and writing about other subjects, even subjects you didn’t know about before.
When you are blogging, you have full creative reign over what you write about. You could write a blog about the changes in music over the last thirty years, and the next day you could write about the importance of animal rights, it’s completely up to you.
You will improve your writing skills
From the moment you begin writing blogs on a regular basis, you will see improvement in your writing and you’ll develop a style, finding a consistent “voice” for your blog. An added bonus is that your vocabulary and punctuation will continue to improve.
You can make friends with like minded people and stay in touch with loved ones
When you create a blog and start to get a following of people, it gives you the ability to connect with like-minded people, who can offer you great conversation, more knowledge, friendship and the occasional debate.
If you spend a lot of time at home without regular contact with your loved ones, this is a great way to make you feel less lonely and keep you feeling happy.
Many people who blog tell their loved ones about their latest post as another way of keeping in contact.
This is a good way to strike up conversation and provides more things to talk about.
