We’ve committed a section of our new care worker induction training to Dementia Friends…

11 September

Dementia Friends is an initiative run by The Alzheimer’s Society. It’s aim is to make our communites more dementia aware to ensure that people living with dementia and their families are understood and helped more within our communities.

To date, the campaign has created over 1 million Dementia Friends.

Carewatch regional trainers took the Dementia Champion training, which is a short day course enabling them to deliver the Dementia Friends sessions, creating new Dementia Friends.

This means that our new starter induction training for all new Care and Support Workers includes a Dementia Friends session.

With over 800,000 people in the UK living with dementia, Carewatch supports many people and families who are living with the condition. It’s important that we have the highest levels of awareness, and are able to help families to understand it too.

The Dementia Friends session is included as an addition to our already existing dementia training that is included in the induction training.
